Make literature data traceable.

Reconstruct concrete durability observations while retaining mixture, age, test protocol, units, and source evidence.

Portfolio revision: 17 October 2026

CreteXtract workflow showing source documents, a constrained extraction schema, traceable observations, and separate structural and numerical validation.

Research question

How can a literature-extraction workflow preserve the scientific identity of a durability observation?

Method & evidence

Schema-constrained extraction records mixture composition, test age, exposure, protocol, units, and source locators. Row-count and schema checks are distinguished from numerical agreement with the source.

Finding & status

The project defines an extraction and validation workflow. Its journal manuscript remains labelled under review in the recorded submission snapshot.

Conditions of interpretation

Research workflow and manuscript scope. A separate short paper is accepted for the 2026 Prototypes for Humanity programme.

My contribution

This is part of my McMaster doctoral research on reconstructing transport evidence. I am listed first on the recorded manuscript with Moncef L. Nehdi.

Authorship

First author of the recorded submitted manuscript. Detailed author-role allocations are reported only where a contribution statement is available.
